Illinois Licensing Qualifications
The License Act requires anyone engaged in selling, purchasing,
renting or leasing of Real Estate for others for a fee in the State of
Illinois to meet the following requirements with few exceptions:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have graduated from high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school degree (GED).
- Must have successfully completed the 75-hour Real Estate Transactions
Course online or in the classroom through a Real Estate school approved
by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Must Have successfully completed the 15-hour Interactive Course in the
classroom at a Real Estate school approved by the Department of
Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Must successfully complete the Illinois Real Estate License Exam:
The National portion is composed of 100 questions and the State portion,
which deals with topics relating particularly to Illinois Real Estate
license law, is composed of 40 questions. A passing score of 75% in
each section must be achieved.
- Must provide errors and omissions insurance (no cost to Mel Foster Co. agents).
- Must be sponsored by a Broker upon passing the exam; cannot apply for an inactive license.
